Today’s working farm requires a small fleet of heavy machinery to get the job done right. With equipment being such a hefty investment these pieces should be safely sheltered when not in use, yet easily accessible when needed for work. You can accomplish all of that in a pride-worthy display that will make your buddies envious by constructing a 3 Sided Pole Building.

Our customer from Carlisle, PA was in need of such a pole building to house his ever-growing farm equipment inventory as well as additional storage for hay. The most convenient location for the new pole barn was going to be just a few feet behind the old wooden barn. However, this could create a potential problem.

If he built a traditional 3 Sided Pole Building with a standard roof truss in the desired location there would not be enough room to drive his farm equipment between the two buildings. The new building’s roof would be too close to the pre-established wooden barn (which is just outside of the frame on the top picture). It would also have required incredible height to allow taller machinery in be parked inside. Our solution? A shed style roof, a perfect answer to both problems.

The posts on the open side were spaced a bit wider than normal to allow easy access for his larger tractors. Traditional red metal siding was selected to closely match the existing wood barn. A little bit of white trim nicely finished the arches and end posts. Our friendly farmer was so pleased with cost and ease of construction that he also purchased a complete garage kit, which we hope to feature soon on an upcoming “Customer Projects” page.
