This project called for a fairly standard double garage with an attic truss to provide usable work and storage space. The left side need only provide space for a regular sedan while the right would require a larger door in both width and height to allow easy ins and outs for an oversize SUV. A double hung window was added to the attic room to allow for cross-ventilation. A standard entry door installed on the side allows for easy access to the home. Siding was ordered to be an exact match for the existing home. The cupola ads a classic touch of style.
That’s where the “fairly standard” garage ends and the “here’s the challenge” garage begins. In order to keep this garage close to the existing home it would need to be situated into a bank. At first this sounded like a potential problem but this was easily rectified. By shortening the left side of the building from the bottom it allowed space for a concrete block retaining wall that to be built, with the garage building resting on top of it. The customer and his father-in-law were able to construct this garage themselves When paired with our great kit pricing this drastically reduced the overall cost.
